Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday said the political fight over the future of India was between the “Gandhi Parivar” and the “Sangh Parivar”, while alleging that the latter was dividing the country on the basis of religion, caste, region and language.
Revanth Reddy made the remarks in Nilambur, Kerala, after receiving the Aryadan Muhammed-2026 Best Public Servant Award. Congress General Secretary (Organisation) K.C. Venugopal presented the award. The honour was instituted in memory of veteran Kerala Congress leader Aryadan Muhammed.
Revanth Reddy said the Gandhi family represented sacrifice, citing Mahatma Gandhi, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi, whom he said had sacrificed their lives for the country. He said Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi had sacrificed “post, power and position”.
He alleged that the BJP was fighting against freedom, secularism and the Constitution and criticised the party over what he described as “vote chori” in the name of Special Intensive Revision.
“Vote ki chori, party ki chori, symbol ki chori, funds ki chori. They are stealing future of youth. They are stealing the foundation of democracy and India and the integrity of vote,” he said, according to his office.
Revanth Reddy called for people to unite behind the Gandhi family to protect democracy, secularism and freedom. He also said his “only dream” was to make Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister of India and expressed confidence in a Congress-led government at the Centre.
“I have no ambition left for myself – only dedicated to making Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister of India,” he said.
Speaking about the award, Revanth Reddy said he was honoured to be the first person from outside Kerala to receive the distinction. He described himself as a Congress worker and a member of the team led by Rahul Gandhi.
He paid tribute to Aryadan Muhammed, describing him as a “master politician” who served as an MLA eight times and as a minister in four different Kerala governments. He said Aryadan had fought throughout his life for freedom, democracy, secularism and the Constitution.
The Aryadan Muhammed Foundation had selected Revanth Reddy for the award in recognition of his leadership and welfare initiatives for farmers, backward classes and other communities in Telangana.
Revanth Reddy also described Kerala as a “bellwether state” and linked electoral trends in the state with political developments at the Centre. He said a “new breeze” was emerging in 2026 and suggested that a Congress victory in Kerala would generate wider political momentum for the party.
