Actor Kartik Aaryan celebrated his National Award win with the team of his upcoming film ‘Captain India’ after returning to the sets in London, where the actor has resumed shooting for the drama.
The makers, Baweja Studios, shared a video from the sets showing Kartik cutting a cake with the crew to mark his Best Actor honour for ‘Chandu Champion’ at the recently held 72nd National Film Awards.
“Welcome back Captain @kartikaaryan. Team #CaptainIndia is super proud to have you back on sets and we can’t stop celebrating!!” the makers wrote in the caption, noting that the film now has both a National Award-winning director and actor associated with it.
Kartik was honoured with the National Award for Best Actor for his performance as Murlikant Petkar, India’s first Paralympic gold medallist, in Kabir Khan’s ‘Chandu Champion’.
Following the award ceremony, Kartik shared a video on social media showing him receiving the honour from President Droupadi Murmu and reflected on his journey from Gwalior to becoming a National Award-winning actor.
“Looking back affectionately with a smile at that mumma’s boy from Gwalior who dared to dream of becoming an actor,” he wrote, describing the award as a dream for a small-town boy and for actors across the country.
Kartik also expressed gratitude to director Kabir Khan and producer Sajid Nadiadwala for entrusting him with the role of Petkar. He ended the note with the line, “Chandu Nahi, Champiyon hai Main.”
In another post, the actor thanked President Murmu for her words at the ceremony and described the occasion as an emotional and proud moment for himself and the ‘Chandu Champion’ team.
The post also featured a glimpse of the ceremony in which the President spoke about Petkar, whose life formed the basis of the biographical sports drama.
Kartik’s ‘Captain India’ is being directed by Hansal Mehta and is being produced by Baweja Studios.
