Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria Launches Youth Facilitation Centre in Ludhiana

Ludhiana, August 30, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria on Sunday inaugurated the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Youth Facilitation Centre at Punjab Youth Town Hall — GenZ Connect in Ludhiana, bringing together more than 2,000 young people for discussions on careers, skills and entrepreneurship.

The event featured three panel discussions focused on career opportunities, employable skills and entrepreneurship, followed by an open question-and-answer session involving Governor Kataria and Dr Vikramjit Singh Sahney, Member of Parliament and Chairman of Sun Foundation. Participants also listened to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mann Ki Baat programme.

Sahney said the newly launched centre would provide 10 youth-focused services under one roof. These include career counselling and skill mapping, training in artificial intelligence and future skills, placement assistance, startup incubation, access to loans and government schemes, wellbeing counselling and a public impact dashboard.

Addressing the gathering, Kataria appreciated Sahney’s efforts to engage with the younger generation and promote skilling and employment opportunities.

“I deeply appreciate the way Dr Vikramjit Singh Sahney is connecting with Gen Z and taking the Prime Minister’s message directly to our youth by empowering them by skilling and providing them jobs,” the Governor said.

Sahney said the Sun Foundation operates a network of skill centres across Punjab, through which 6,560 young people have been trained, 5,426 placed in jobs and 410 supported towards self-employment.

He further said the foundation has adopted 12 drug de-addiction and rehabilitation centres in Punjab. These centres provide skill training to around 500 recovering patients annually, with more than 1,000 subsequently placed in jobs and 250 supported in moving towards self-employment.

The panel discussions focused on changes in the employment landscape, industry-relevant skills and opportunities in entrepreneurship and startups. Speakers also stressed the need for young people to continuously upgrade their skills as technology and workplace requirements evolve.

Participants were encouraged to identify their strengths, explore emerging career pathways and cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset.
