Panaji, October 11, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
The final post-mortem report in veteran actor Nana Patekar’s death case has concluded that he died of natural causes following a massive heart attack, ruling out foul play, Goa Police confirmed to IANS.
The report, prepared by a team of doctors at Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Bambolim, stated that a blood clot in the main coronary artery had interrupted the blood supply to the heart, resulting in cardiac arrest.
According to the police, the actor’s family has been informed about the findings and has not raised any objections to the medical report so far.
At around 2:30 am on October 8, Patekar reportedly informed a family friend through WhatsApp that he was unwell. He was subsequently taken to Manipal Hospital in Dona Paula, where doctors declared him dead despite administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for approximately 45 minutes.
Following his death, Panaji Police had registered a case of unnatural death under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), bearing Unnatural Death (UD) No. 62/2026.
With the final post-mortem report confirming a natural cause of death and ruling out foul play involving his son, Malhar Patekar, and nephew, Prasad Patekar, the case is expected to be closed soon, according to the report.
Patekar was cremated with full state honours at his farmhouse in Donje village in Pune district on Thursday. He was accorded a three-gun salute as part of the final rites.
Several friends and members of the film fraternity attended the funeral, including actor Jackie Shroff, directors Anil Sharma and Anees Bazmee, and producer Firoz Nadiadwala. A large number of people also gathered in Donje to pay their final respects to the veteran actor.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis paid tribute to Patekar at Pune airport before departing for Mumbai, while Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited the actor’s farmhouse to offer his condolences.
