New Delhi, October 11, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Gurdwara Bangla Sahib manager Rajendra Singh has dismissed social media claims of a clash between police personnel and protesters at the Sikh shrine as “completely false”, while Delhi Police has warned against the circulation of misleading information about the alleged incident.

In a video shared by Delhi Police, Singh said an unverified rumour was being circulated online and urged people not to believe it.

“A rumour is being spread on social media that there has been a clash between police and protesters at Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, which is completely false. We have been on duty here since this morning. Nothing of the sort involving the devotees, protesters, or police has occurred here,” he said.

Singh added that normal religious activities were continuing at the gurdwara, with devotees visiting to offer prayers and participate in the community kitchen, or langar.

Earlier, New Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police Sachin Sharma posted a video on X to address allegations that a police constable had entered the gurdwara wearing footwear, triggering claims of sacrilege.

Sharma said the police personnel seen wearing shoes in the video were walking through a common passage used by devotees to reach the designated area for removing footwear.

“The process is the same for all devotees coming to Gurdwara. The video showing the same is attached,” the DCP said.

He alleged that the footage had been circulated with malicious intent to outrage the religious sentiments of a community and disturb communal harmony. Sharma added that legal action was being initiated in connection with the matter.

The clarification came amid heightened security in the national capital following protests against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar at Jantar Mantar.

Delhi Police detained more than 3,000 protesters on Saturday as authorities prevented unauthorised gatherings after permission for the demonstration was denied.

Meanwhile, Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) leader Ajinkya Shinde announced that protesters would march towards Jantar Mantar again on Sunday, demanding Kumar’s resignation over alleged irregularities in the revision of electoral rolls.
