Chandigarh, October 10, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Farmer organisations in Haryana have announced statewide protests on October 14 against alleged irregularities in crop procurement, sales below the minimum support price (MSP) and conditions they say are making it difficult for farmers to sell their produce.

The decision was taken at a joint meeting of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha Haryana and the Haryana Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Morcha in Narwana town, where representatives discussed issues affecting farmers across the state.

The meeting was jointly chaired by Rattan Mann, Lakhwinder Aulakh, Balbir Singh and Mandeep Nathwan. Representatives of 23 constituent organisations affiliated with the two farmers’ fronts participated.

The organisations announced that they would stage three-hour protests by locking market committee offices in every district from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on October 14. Their demands include an end to alleged exploitation in mandis, purchases below the declared MSP, what they described as anti-farmer procurement conditions, and unauthorised deductions from crop payments.

Farmer leaders warned that if the government failed to address their demands, they would announce major decisions on the next phase of a broader agitation later that day.

Farmers Flag Paddy and Millet Procurement Issues

Briefing the media after the meeting, the leaders said cultivators were facing serious difficulties during the ongoing paddy procurement season.

They highlighted per-acre limits on paddy and millet procurement, restrictions imposed in specific districts, recurring problems with the online procurement portal and alleged unauthorised deductions from payments to farmers.

According to the organisations, farmers are being forced to wait for extended periods in mandis and navigate multiple hurdles to sell their crops.

The leaders also alleged that paddy and millet were being sold in Haryana’s mandis at prices below the declared MSP. They cited the MSP for paddy at Rs 2,461 per quintal and for millet at Rs 2,900 per quintal, arguing that the government must ensure farmers receive the prescribed rates.

They questioned who was responsible for enforcing MSP payments and why the government was not being held accountable when crops were allegedly purchased below the declared support prices.

‘MSP Matters Only When Farmers Receive It’

Rattan Mann, state president of the Bharatiya Kisan Union, said farmers worked day and night to produce food for the country but faced restrictions, low prices and other difficulties when selling their harvest.

“Declaring an MSP has meaning only when farmers actually receive the prescribed price for their produce,” Mann said.

He called on the government to explain why paddy and millet were allegedly being sold below MSP and why farmers were facing restrictions during procurement.

The two farmers’ organisations said the October 14 protests would press the government to address these concerns and warned that further agitation could follow if their demands remained unresolved.
