Diljit Dosanjh’s Aura India Tour Hits Roadblock as Delhi Police Refuses Permission for Opening Show

New Delhi, October 22, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Delhi Police has denied permission for Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh’s much-awaited concert scheduled for October 30 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in the national capital, citing specific security threat inputs and law-and-order concerns.

The concert was scheduled to mark the opening of Diljit Dosanjh’s Aura India Tour 2026, which also includes performances in several other major Indian cities.

The decision comes after the organisers had already rescheduled the Delhi concert from November 1 to October 30 following objections raised by certain organisations over the significance of November 1 in connection with the 1984 anti-Sikh violence in Delhi.

Delhi Police Cites Security Threats

In an official communication addressed to ticketing platform BookMyShow, the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, South District, stated that the request for organising the concert had been examined but could not be approved.

Referring to the application submitted on October 14, 2026, the police cited specific threat-related intelligence inputs, along with extensive security and law-and-order responsibilities during the ongoing festive season.

The communication also referred to other important law-and-order concerns that would make it difficult to grant the necessary permission for the event.

The police decision represents a significant setback for the organisers and fans who had booked tickets for the October 30 performance.

Concert Date Earlier Changed Over 1984 Sikh Genocide Concerns

The Delhi concert was initially scheduled for November 1, a date associated with the 1984 anti-Sikh genocide in the national capital and other parts of the country.

Several organisations had objected to holding a major entertainment event on the date, considering its historical and emotional significance for the Sikh community.

Following these objections, the organisers shifted the concert to October 30.

However, the revised date has now encountered a separate hurdle, with Delhi Police declining permission on security grounds.

Delhi Was to Host Opening Show of Aura India Tour

The Delhi performance was planned as the first concert of Diljit Dosanjh’s Aura India Tour 2026.

Following the Delhi show, the singer is scheduled to perform in Indore, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chandigarh and Lucknow.

The tour has generated considerable interest among Diljit’s fans, particularly following his successful concerts and growing popularity in India and internationally.

With police clearance denied for the Delhi concert, uncertainty now surrounds the opening performance of the tour.

There has been no confirmed announcement regarding an alternative venue, another date or arrangements for ticket holders.

Further clarification from the organisers is awaited on whether the Delhi concert will be rescheduled or cancelled.
