The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday announced a major organisational reshuffle, appointing state in-charges and co-in-charges for its units across states and Union Territories. The appointments, approved by BJP national president Nitin Nabin, take effect immediately.
Former Union minister Smriti Irani has been appointed the party’s in-charge for both Haryana and Chhattisgarh. Siddharth Shambhu will assist her in Chhattisgarh, while Bhola Singh has been named co-in-charge for Haryana.
Vinod Tawde has been appointed BJP in-charge for Uttar Pradesh, with Jagdish Patel, Medha Kulkarni, Pradeep Verma and Anant Ojha as co-in-charges.
Baijayant Jay Panda will oversee Maharashtra, assisted by Amit Malviya, Sadanand Shet Tanavade and Kamaljeet Sehrawat.
Sunil Bansal has been assigned responsibility for Telangana and West Bengal. Abhay Patil and Rekha Sharma will assist him in Telangana, while Lal Singh Arya, Rajendra Singh and Pinky Kushwaha have been appointed co-in-charges for West Bengal.
Ram Madhav has been given charge of Tamil Nadu and Uttarakhand. His co-in-charges in Tamil Nadu are Nirmal Kumar Surana and D.K. Aruna, while Arvind Menon and Bansuri Swaraj will assist him in Uttarakhand.
Harish Dwivedi has been appointed in-charge for Bihar and Karnataka. Biplab Kumar Deb will oversee Madhya Pradesh, with Rekha Verma as co-in-charge.
Satish Poonia has been given responsibility for Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab. Virendra Sachdeva and Alka Gurjar will assist him in Punjab.
Tarun Chugh has been appointed Gujarat in-charge, while Mangal Pandey will oversee Assam. Arvind Bhadoria has been assigned Andhra Pradesh, with Vanathi Srinivasan as co-in-charge.
The BJP has also appointed Sanjay Bhatia as Rajasthan in-charge, with Kavita Patidar and Kuljeet Chahal as co-in-charges.
Other appointments include Vinay Sahasrabuddhe for Delhi, Shrikant Sharma for Himachal Pradesh, Gajendra Patel for Jharkhand, M. Nagraja for Kerala, Rajkumar Bhatia for Ladakh, George Kurian for Lakshadweep, Rajdeep Roy for Manipur, Kanad Purkayastha for Meghalaya, Bhagwat Karad for Mizoram, Anil Antony for Nagaland, D. Purandeshwari for Odisha, K. Surendran for Puducherry, Raju Bista for Sikkim and Mriganka Deb Barman for Tripura.
Anil Antony has also been assigned responsibility for Goa, while Bharati Pravin Pawar has been appointed Goa in-charge with Antony as co-in-charge. The organisational list covers all 28 states and eight Union Territories.
The party has also made changes to its central communication structure. Ashish Usha Agrawal has been appointed convenor of the BJP media department, while Anil Baluni has been named coordinator of the communication department.
The appointments were communicated to state BJP presidents and organisational general secretaries by national office in-charge Tarun Chugh. The reshuffle comes as the party reorganises its state-level structure ahead of upcoming electoral and organisational programmes.
