Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria on Thursday paid obeisance at the Shri Sidh Baba Sodhal Temple in Jalandhar and prayed for the progress and prosperity of Punjab.
The Governor also paid obeisance at the historic Gurdwara Sodhal Chhauni Nihang Singh and offered prayers for the welfare of all.
Kataria said the Shri Sidh Baba Sodhal Temple is a major centre of faith not only for devotees across the country but also for millions of followers living abroad. He said a large number of devotees from India and overseas visit the shrine every year to seek Baba Sodhal’s blessings.
He said he considered himself fortunate to have received the opportunity to visit the sacred shrine.
On the occasion, Kataria extended greetings to the devotees and called upon people to further strengthen mutual love, harmony and the spirit of brotherhood.
He also urged people from all sections of society to contribute through unity and active participation towards taking Punjab to new heights of progress and development.
Earlier, the Governor participated in the havan yagya organised on the first day of the Shri Sidh Baba Sodhal Mela.
Shri Sidh Baba Sodhal Trust chairman Sheetal Vij was also present on the occasion.
Jalandhar Mayor Vineet Dhir, District Planning Committee chairman Amritpal Singh, Deputy Mayor Malkit Singh, Abhishek Vij, Trust general secretary Tarsem Kapoor, treasurer Suresh Chadha and other dignitaries were also present.
