Punjab Police conducted 578 raids across the state on Friday as the ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign entered its 248th day, resulting in the arrest of 246 individuals, while preventive action was taken against 197 others.
According to Punjab Police, the raids were conducted at identified and mapped locations linked to associates of gangsters. Five Proclaimed Offenders (POs) were also arrested during the operation, taking the total number of arrests under the campaign to 73,661 since its launch.
The ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign was launched by Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026, with police teams from districts across the state conducting operations in coordination with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab.
The police said people can anonymously share information about wanted criminals and gangsters, as well as tips related to crime and criminal activities, through the Anti-Gangster Helpline at 93946-93946.
Meanwhile, Punjab Police continued its anti-drug campaign, ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, which entered its 573rd day. Police teams arrested 135 alleged drug smugglers and recovered 2.3 kg of heroin, 375 intoxicant pills and ₹9,800 in suspected drug money.
With Friday’s arrests, the total number of drug smugglers arrested under the campaign has reached 80,053, according to the police.
As part of its de-addiction efforts, Punjab Police also said it persuaded 13 people to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment on Friday.
