India secured two bronze medals in skeet shooting at the Asian Games 2026 on Wednesday, with the men’s and women’s teams both finishing on the podium.
The men’s skeet trio of Anantjeet Singh Naruka, Mairaj Ahmed Khan and Bhavtegh Singh Gill clinched bronze after tying with Kazakhstan on 346 points and then winning a tense shoot-off.
Naruka led India’s qualification effort with 119 points out of 125, while Mairaj Khan scored 116 and Gill contributed 111. With Kazakhstan matching India’s combined score, the bronze medal was decided through a shoot-off, which the Indian team won.
Earlier, Parinaaz Dhaliwal, Razia Dhillon and Maheshwari Chauhan had secured bronze in the women’s skeet team event. The Indian trio posted 331 points across the three-day qualification rounds to finish behind gold medallists China and silver medallists Kazakhstan.
China’s Che Yufei, Jian Yiting and Jiang Chaoyu topped the women’s event with 347 points, while Kazakhstan’s Assem Orynbay, Zoya Piskun and Adel Sadakbayeva took silver with 336.
Naruka also reached the men’s individual skeet final but finished fourth with 25/28. Qatar’s Al-Athba won gold with an Asian Record score of 34, China’s Lyu Jianlin took silver with 33, and Chinese Taipei’s Lee claimed bronze with 29.
In the women’s 10m air pistol individual event, double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker finished fifth in the final. South Korea’s Gaeun Choo won gold with an Asian and Games record score of 246.3, while China’s Yiyao Shen and Ranxin Jiang secured silver and bronze with 241.3 and 221.6, respectively.
Bhaker had entered the final after placing third in qualification with 579 points, including 20 inner 10s. She scored 181.1 in the eight-shooter final. India finished fourth in the team event with 1719-44x, narrowly missing the podium as Vietnam took bronze with 1719-46x. China won gold with 1735-56x and South Korea secured silver with 1730-55x.
Bhaker will now turn her attention to the 25m pistol event, where she will compete alongside Esha and 2018 Asian Games champion Rahi Sarnobat.
With the women’s skeet team bronze, India’s shooting medal tally at the 2026 Asian Games rose to six, comprising four silver and two bronze medals.
At the previous Asian Games in Hangzhou, India won 22 shooting medals — seven gold, nine silver and six bronze.
