Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria on Wednesday released a special edition of Sankalp, the official magazine of Lok Bhavan, highlighting initiatives, public engagements and developmental activities undertaken across Punjab and Chandigarh over the past two years.
Titled “2 Saal Punjabiyon Ke Saath: Seva, Samarpan Aur Vikas”, the special edition documents various programmes and activities undertaken during Kataria’s tenure, covering areas including development, public outreach and social welfare.
In his message, Kataria described his association with Punjab as more than a constitutional responsibility, calling it a journey of connecting with the state and its people.
He said courage, sacrifice, service, hard work and humanity represented Punjab’s defining strengths, while recalling the Sikh Gurus’ teachings of selfless service, equality, justice and Sarbat Da Bhala.
The Governor also highlighted his sustained campaign against drug abuse, including nearly 100-km-long anti-drug padyatras conducted over 25 days. During the campaign, he interacted with students, families, as well as social and religious organisations.
Kataria also recalled the spirit of service demonstrated by Punjabis during floods, when people came forward to help one another and share resources.
The magazine’s coverage of Chandigarh includes initiatives in education, sports, environment, digital governance, healthcare, public transport and social welfare. It also highlights scholarships and awards provided to sportspersons.
Kataria said the experience of the past two years had reinforced his belief that meaningful transformation takes place when people become partners in the development process.
He expressed hope that Punjab and Chandigarh would continue to progress while maintaining a balance between development and humanity, progress and nature, and achievement and sensitivity.
Additional Chief Secretary to the Governor Vivek Partap Singh, Secretary Education and Public Relations Chandigarh Prerna Puri, Director Public Relations Chandigarh Rajiv Tewari and Deputy Director Press to the Governor Gurmeet Singh Khaira were among those present on the occasion.
