Hyderabad, November 2, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday led a 1.5-km ‘Maha Padyatra’ in Hyderabad as part of the BJP’s nationwide campaign against the INDIA bloc’s anti-SIR campaign.

The march began at the Babu Jagjivan Ram statue in Basheerbagh, with Shah holding the national flag and accompanied by Union Ministers G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao, party MPs, MLAs, MLCs and hundreds of workers. Organised under the slogan ‘Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy’, it was scheduled to conclude at Moazzam Jahi Market, where Shah would address a public meeting.

Ahead of the march, Shah targeted the Congress in a post on X, accusing it of trying to seize power through “anarchic actions” and “murdering democracy”. He said he would participate in the padyatra to protect democratic institutions from what he called the party’s “nefarious attempts”.

The march was expected to address the INDIA bloc’s criticism of the BJP at its Ramlila Maidan rally in Delhi on Sunday. BJP leaders also appealed to people to join the campaign in support of democracy and constitutional institutions.

Hyderabad Traffic Police imposed restrictions and diverted traffic in parts of central Hyderabad, including Basheerbagh, Nampally, Abids, Jambagh, MJ Market, Koti and Afzal Gunj.

Earlier, Shah visited the Bhagyalakshmi temple near the historic Charminar and offered prayers. He was welcomed at Begumpet Airport by Kishan Reddy, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Ramchander Rao and other BJP leaders.
