Delhi Lieutenant Governor (L-G) T.S. Sandhu on Thursday reviewed Phase II of the city’s reforms aimed at reducing the compliance burden on citizens and improving the ease of doing business through deregulation.

In a post on social media platform X, Sandhu said, “Chaired a review of Phase-II of Delhi’s Deregulation and Compliance Reduction exercise, advancing PM @narendramodiJi’s vision of Ease of Doing Business & Ease of Living.”

“Reviewed key reforms and stressed fast-tracking the Delhi Ease of Doing Business Bill, 2026, to cut red tape and usher in a ‘Permitted until Prohibited’ framework for faster, transparent, citizen-centric governance,” the Lieutenant Governor added.

During the meeting, Sandhu directed all departments to complete the exercise swiftly and efficiently, ensuring that every reform translates into tangible improvements in the daily lives of Delhi residents through reduced red tape, faster approvals and more responsive governance, according to an official statement.

Earlier, the Lieutenant Governor also met Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar to review community policing initiatives, public welfare platforms and targeted safety measures being implemented across the National Capital Territory, an official said.

The meeting focused on strengthening institutional support for vulnerable groups, with particular emphasis on senior citizens and women commuters, the statement added.

Sandhu reviewed the functioning, adoption and operational effectiveness of the Delhi Police’s dedicated mobile application for senior citizens.

Taking stock of regular outreach activities, registrations and beat-level police interactions with elderly residents, the L-G stressed the need for prompt grievance redressal, reliable emergency assistance and regular visits by local police personnel to ensure the safety, well-being and confidence of senior citizens across Delhi.

Sandhu also directed a comprehensive reassessment of the number of senior citizens in Delhi and called for the mobile application to be expanded accordingly.
