Chandigarh, October 28, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former minister Bikram Singh Majithia on Tuesday accused AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal and the Bhagwant Mann government of misleading Punjabis by portraying the disproportionate assets (DA) case against him as a drug trafficking case.

Majithia alleged that the AAP leadership was attempting to divert attention from Punjab’s law and order situation and other pressing issues. He maintained that the allegations against him should be assessed on the basis of evidence and court records.

Recalling Kejriwal’s 2018 apology over allegations linking him to drugs, Majithia accused the AAP leader of reviving the issue for political gains. He claimed that the government had failed to establish a direct or indirect link between him and drug trafficking despite constituting four special investigation teams (SITs).

“My lawyer has presented all the facts before the court and separated truth from falsehood,” Majithia said, referring to his counsel, DS Sobti. He challenged Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and the AAP leadership to make public any concrete evidence supporting the allegations against him.

Majithia also disputed claims linking him to alleged drug money worth Rs 736 crore, arguing that the government had not produced evidence establishing his involvement in drug trafficking or the transportation of people in vehicles allegedly connected with the case.

He further accused the government of making different claims in court and in public statements, and said the allegations should be tested against the actual judicial record.

Lawyer Says DA and Drug Cases Must Be Examined Separately

Majithia’s lawyer, DS Sobti, said the disproportionate assets case and the drug case were separate matters and should not be presented as one and the same.

Sobti argued that financial transactions and documents cited in the DA case could not automatically be treated as proof of drug trafficking. He said the legal status of the documents, the relationship between Majithia and the companies concerned, and the source of the funds needed to be examined through the court record.

He also questioned figures being circulated publicly about properties and financial transactions, maintaining that cash deposits alone could not automatically be classified as illegal income without examining their source and supporting evidence.

Sobti urged that public claims about the supplementary chargesheet be compared with the actual court documents and relevant judicial orders.

Majithia Raises Questions Over Daljit Singh Case

During the press conference, Majithia also played a video and questioned the government over the handling of Daljit Singh’s body and the circumstances surrounding his cremation.

He alleged that Sikh youths had faced police excesses and that the bodies had not been treated with due respect. He also raised concerns about the alleged treatment of Amritdhari Sikhs.

Majithia accused the government of focusing on his case instead of answering questions about drugs, law and order, and other issues facing Punjab.

He said he was ready to face the legal process and challenged the AAP leadership to substantiate its allegations with evidence or apologise and face legal proceedings.
