Singer-songwriter Kevin Jonas has opened up about an embarrassing mishap in which he accidentally sent a nude photograph of himself to a group chat featuring his brothers, Joe and Nick Jonas, leaving him scrambling to get the picture deleted.
The Jonas Brothers recently revisited the incident during an episode of their Hey Jonas podcast, recounting how an innocent discussion about American football took an unexpected turn after Kevin shared the photograph without realising what was visible in the image.
The siblings and some friends use the group chat to discuss football and their favourite team, the New York Giants.
Joe recalled that the conversation began with an announcement about quarterback JJ McCarthy, saying, “There was a big announcement that JJ McCarthy, who is going to be… he’s going to start as our quarterback”.
Nick explained that Kevin had initially shared a photograph of a television screen displaying the starting-lineup announcement.
“It’s a TV and it’s got the announcement on it and no one like kind of thinks much of it,” Nick said.
The conversation subsequently moved on to predictions for the Super Bowl in February 2027 before the group fell silent for about an hour. Then, Kevin began sending a series of increasingly panicked messages asking everyone to delete the photograph.
The first message read, “Guys delete the photo I’m sorry”.
He followed it with an expletive expressing his frustration, before sending another message urging everyone to delete the entire conversation.
Explaining how the mistake happened, Kevin said he had not noticed the reflection in the mirrors surrounding the television.
“The photo has mirrors and I didn’t clock it. And it was in our bathroom and I took the photo as I’m getting into the shower,” he said.
Joe then explained why the image had revealed more than Kevin intended.
“But there’s mirrors surrounding the TV and you can only see…it’s like the greatest thing that you didn’t know happened. There’s a big TV and right below it is a mirror and it’s only your d***,” Joe said.
Nick struggled to contain his laughter as he described the incident as “legendary”. He added that the sequence of frantic messages, rather than the photograph itself, made the episode particularly funny.
“What’s funny is not the photo. It’s these four texts back to back that are like poetry,” Nick said.
The group members quickly reassured Kevin that he did not need to apologise. Nick then returned to the original football discussion with a brief message: “Go Giants”.
Kevin later expressed relief that the photograph had remained within the intended group chat and had not been sent elsewhere.
“It could have gone to so many other places. Oh my God,” he said, reflecting on how much worse the accidental message could have been.
