Punjab Police conducted 569 raids at identified locations linked to gangster associates across the state on the 272nd day of its ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign on Monday, arresting 221 people and recovering 15 weapons. Preventive action was also taken against 208 individuals, while seven proclaimed offenders were arrested during the operation.
According to the police, the campaign was launched by Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026, with the aim of making Punjab a gangster-free state. Police teams from all districts have been conducting coordinated operations in collaboration with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), Punjab.
With the latest arrests, the total number of people arrested under ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ has reached 79,454 since the campaign began.
The police urged people to share information about wanted criminals, gangsters and suspected criminal activities through the Anti-Gangster Helpline at 93946-93946. The helpline allows people to provide information anonymously.
Meanwhile, Punjab Police continued its anti-drug campaign, ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, for the 597th day. On Monday, police arrested 226 alleged drug smugglers and recovered 14.4 kg of heroin, 1,407 intoxicant pills and ₹4.06 lakh in suspected drug money.
With these arrests, the total number of alleged drug smugglers arrested under the campaign has reached 86,744 in 597 days.
As part of its de-addiction efforts, Punjab Police also persuaded 27 people to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment on Monday.
