Bihar Minister Ram Kripal Yadav on Saturday backed Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy’s criticism of Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, accusing the Congress leader of making irresponsible remarks and acting in a manner he said was inconsistent with the dignity of the constitutional post.

Reacting to Reddy’s comments, Yadav said Gandhi was not worthy of serving as Leader of the Opposition and urged him to maintain greater restraint and responsibility in his public conduct.

“I thank Union Coal Minister G. Kishan Reddy for making the right comments about Rahul Gandhi. He is not worthy of being the Leader of the Opposition,” Yadav said, alleging that Gandhi’s remarks and activities were unbecoming of the position.

Yadav also accused the Congress leader of creating disorder and obstructing the country’s development. He alleged that Gandhi’s recent actions were raising questions about his intentions and speculated about possible foreign influence, without presenting evidence for the claim.

Uttar Pradesh Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar also supported Reddy’s criticism, comparing Gandhi’s conduct with that of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav. Rajbhar accused both opposition leaders of making irresponsible statements and questioned their political positions.

The remarks follow Reddy’s criticism of Gandhi on Friday during a media interaction at the BJP’s state office in Nampally, where he challenged the Congress’s allegations of “vote theft” and irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

Reddy also questioned the party’s allegations concerning the Election Commission and Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), and criticised its targeting of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

The exchange has added to the political confrontation between the BJP and Congress over electoral processes and the conduct of opposition leaders. The accusations made by BJP leaders against Gandhi remain political allegations.
