Actor Sunny Deol has paid tribute to veteran actor Mushtaq Khan, who died at the age of 56 on September 24, remembering his Gadar co-star as “a nice human being and a fine actor”.
Taking to social media, Sunny expressed his grief over Khan’s death and extended condolences to his family.
“Sad to hear about Mushtaq Khan. He was a nice human being and a fine actor. Have fond memories of him. My condolences to his family. May they find strength in this difficult hour,” Sunny wrote.
Khan’s death has prompted condolences from the Hindi film fraternity, marking the loss of an actor whose career spanned more than three decades across films, television and theatre.
According to the source material, Khan died at a Mumbai hospital after reportedly battling cancer.
Khan was part of the 2001 blockbuster Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, in which Sunny played Tara Singh. Khan portrayed Gul Khan, popularly known as Gullu, Tara Singh’s close friend. The film also featured Ameesha Patel as Sakeena, Amrish Puri as Ashraf Ali and Utkarsh Sharma as Jeete.
Khan returned as Gul Khan in Gadar 2, reuniting with Sunny Deol more than two decades after the original film.
Over his long career, Khan appeared in a wide range of Hindi films, including Aashiqui, Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin, Sadak, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, Krantiveer, Raja, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Welcome, Wanted, Oh My God!, Stree and Stree 2.
