India’s Tilottama Sen, Vidarsa Vinod Kochalumkal and Ashi Chouksey won the silver medal in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions team event at the Asian Games 2026, combining for a total of 1763 points in the qualification round.
China claimed the team gold with 1773 points, while Kazakhstan secured the bronze with 1754 points.
The Indian trio remained firmly in medal contention through the kneeling, prone and standing stages. Tilottama and Ashi made strong starts, while Vidarsa recovered impressively after a difficult opening kneeling series.
Tilottama was particularly consistent across the qualification. After moving into the top three following the kneeling and prone stages, she finished third in the individual standings with 590 points to secure a place in the eight-shooter final.
Vidarsa produced a strong late recovery after slipping down the standings during kneeling. She improved through the prone and standing stages to finish sixth with 588 points, joining Tilottama in the individual final.
Ashi narrowly missed out on the individual final after a difficult standing series. She finished 15th with 585 points, but her contribution proved important in India’s overall team score and silver-medal finish.
The qualification format required each shooter to complete 20 shots in each of the three positions — kneeling, prone and standing. The combined scores of the three Indian shooters determined the team standings, while the top eight individual performers advanced to the final, with a maximum of two shooters from each country eligible to qualify.
China’s Han Jiayu topped the individual qualification with 594 points. Tilottama’s 590 placed her third, while Vidarsa’s 588 was enough for sixth position.
With the team silver secured, Tilottama and Vidarsa will now return to the range for the individual final, where they will look to add another medal to India’s shooting campaign at the Asian Games in Nagoya.
