Punjab Police conducted 580 raids at identified locations linked to associates of gangsters across the state on Sunday as the ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign entered its 229th day, resulting in the arrest of 273 people.
According to the police, three weapons were also recovered from those arrested, taking the total number of arrests under the campaign to 68,388 since its launch.
The campaign, aimed at making Punjab free from gangster networks, was launched by Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026. Police teams from districts across the state have been carrying out coordinated operations with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab.
During Sunday’s operations, preventive action was also taken against 193 individuals, while six proclaimed offenders were arrested.
Punjab Police appealed to the public to share information about wanted criminals, gangsters and other criminal activities through the Anti-Gangster Helpline 93946-93946. The information can be provided anonymously, police said.
Meanwhile, the police continued its anti-drug campaign ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, which entered its 554th day. Sixty-two alleged drug smugglers were arrested during the day’s operations, with 306 grams of heroin and 190 intoxicant pills recovered from their possession.
With the latest arrests, the total number of drug smugglers arrested under the campaign has reached 77,421 in 554 days.
As part of its de-addiction efforts, Punjab Police also persuaded five individuals to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment on Sunday.
