IAF Sarang Team to Showcase ‘Dolphin Leap’, New ‘Spot Stall Turn’ at Egypt’s El Alamein Airshow

Cairo, September 6, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The Indian Air Force’s (IAF) Sarang Helicopter Display Team will showcase its signature “Dolphin Leap” manoeuvre and introduce a new aerial sequence, the “Spot Stall Turn”, at the second edition of the El Alamein International Airshow in Egypt.

The Sarang team has arrived in Egypt for the three-day airshow, scheduled to be held from September 8 to 10 at El Alamein International Airport.

According to the Ministry of Defence, Sarang is the world’s only five-helicopter display team. It will demonstrate precision, discipline and advanced flying skills through a series of closely choreographed formations and aerial manoeuvres.

The team flies the indigenously designed and manufactured Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Dhruv, and is known for demanding formation manoeuvres, close-proximity flying and synchronised aerial sequences.

The Ministry said the participation will showcase both the exceptional skills of IAF pilots and the capabilities of India’s indigenous aerospace industry. Aviation enthusiasts and spectators from around the world will get an opportunity to witness the agility and versatility of the ALH Dhruv during the displays.

India-Egypt Defence Ties

The El Alamein International Airshow brings together leading air forces as well as professionals from the global aerospace, defence and space sectors. The Ministry said Sarang’s participation would add a distinctive element to the event while providing an opportunity to strengthen engagement with international aviation teams.

The Indian Embassy in Egypt had earlier highlighted the Sarang display as a major attraction of the airshow and as a reflection of India’s expanding defence capabilities and the depth of India-Egypt defence cooperation.

At an embassy-hosted event on India-Egypt defence collaboration and the country’s participation in the airshow, the Sarang team’s commander and pilots discussed the ALH Dhruv and their participation in the event.

The IAF’s appearance is expected to further strengthen defence and diplomatic ties between India and Egypt while showcasing India’s growing capabilities in indigenous helicopter design and aerospace technology.
