The popular stage play ‘Hamare Ram’, based on the life, ideals and eternal message of Lord Shri Ram, was staged at the Shiv Kumar Batalvi Auditorium in Batala as part of the Punjab government’s efforts to take the state’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage to the people.
The performance, featuring acclaimed actor Ashutosh Rana as Ravana, received an enthusiastic response from the audience. Rana’s powerful acting, along with the production’s elaborate stage design, impactful dialogues, music and visual presentation, brought out themes associated with Lord Shri Ram’s life, including truth, righteousness, compassion, dignity and harmony.
Several prominent personalities attended the programme, including Balbir Kaur, mother of MLA Sherry Kalsi; Additional Deputy Commissioner (General)-cum-Commissioner, Batala Municipal Corporation, Gursimran Singh Dhillon; SDM Batala Sarangpreet Singh; MLA Sherry Kalsi’s brother Amrit Kalsi; Mayor Bhupinder Singh Bajwa; Chairman Manik Mehta; Senior Deputy Mayor Sukhraj Kaur; Honey Chauhan; Pardeep Kumar; Chairman Gagan Mahajan of Gurdaspur; Chairman Kirpal Singh Udowali; Chairman Rajiv Saini of Dinanagar; Chairman Rakesh Nanda of Gurdaspur; Tehsildar Arjan Singh Grewal; Amit Sodhi; Gagan Malli; Ajmer Singh Bunty; social worker Neeraj Mahajan and residents from Batala and adjoining areas.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Bhupinder Singh Bajwa and Amrit Kalsi said the Punjab government, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, was working to preserve the state’s cultural and spiritual heritage and connect the younger generation with it.
They said free shows of ‘Hamare Ram’ were being organised in Batala on September 6 and 11, giving people across different sections of society an opportunity to watch the production and draw inspiration from the ideals associated with Lord Shri Ram.
They described Batala’s inclusion in the programme as a matter of pride for residents of the district and urged people to participate in the September 11 shows in large numbers.
The organisers said two more free shows will be held on September 11 at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the venue.
