Actress Munmun Dutta has taken a nostalgic look back at the early years of her career, sharing throwback photographs from her modelling days in Sydney, film shoots in Goa and Hyderabad, and a music video featuring Punjabi singers Malkit Singh and Jassie Sidhu.
The actress, widely recognised for playing Babita Iyer in the television sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, shared the pictures on social media, recalling several experiences from before she became a familiar face on Indian television.
One photograph showed her posing near Sydney Harbour Bridge during her first international trip in 2006 for a brand campaign. Munmun revealed that she had bought a Kodak camera with her savings to capture such memories.
She also revisited moments from Bondi Beach, recalling the scorching Australian summer sun while joking that she could not remember why she had been wrapped in a blanket in one photograph. Other pictures captured her posing with a koala and taking breaks between shoots.
Turning to memories from 2005, Munmun shared photographs from the Goa shoot of Pooja’s Holiday, including one with actress and filmmaker Pooja Bhatt. She also posted a picture with veteran filmmaker D. Ramanaidu from the time she travelled to Hyderabad for her first Telugu film song.
Describing herself as a newcomer at the time, Munmun recalled feeling nervous about working on an unfamiliar set, surrounded by people speaking a language she did not know.
She also remembered shooting a music video with Malkit Singh and Jassie Sidhu around 2006 or 2007, praising Singh and recalling the popularity of his hit Gur Naal Ishq Mitha.
Among the photographs was a childhood picture featuring unusually drawn eyebrows, which Munmun jokingly attributed to a photographer at an old-fashioned photo studio.
Munmun began her television career with Hum Sab Baraati in 2004 and appeared in films including Mumbai Xpress and Holiday. Her breakthrough came with Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, which premiered in 2008.
