Bollywood superstar Madhuri Dixit has revisited a cherished memory from her wedding to Dr Shriram Nene, revealing that she wore her grandmother’s traditional blue Nauvari saree for the ceremony 27 years ago.
Madhuri shared the personal detail while interacting with bride-to-be Mrunmayee Kitukale from Amravati on the reality quiz show ‘Kon Honar Crorepati’.
Mrunmayee, who is preparing for her wedding, sought Madhuri’s advice on bridal styling and revealed that she had saved screenshots of the actress’s saree looks for inspiration.
As the two discussed traditional bright shades and contemporary pastel colours, Madhuri recalled the saree she chose for her own wedding.
“I wore my grandmother’s saree at my wedding. It was a Nauvari saree, and it was blue in colour. It was a very beautiful shade of blue. I paired it with a shawl that was fully embroidered,” Madhuri said.
The actress stressed that brides should choose outfits that carry a personal connection and reflect their own preferences.
“There should be a personal touch to what you wear. You should wear what you like, because that day belongs to you and your family. So, it should be your choice,” she added.
The conversation took an emotional turn when Mrunmayee presented Madhuri with her first wedding invitation. Although the first invitation is traditionally offered to God, the bride-to-be chose to give hers to Madhuri, making the actress part of her wedding celebrations.
Madhuri and Dr Shriram Nene recently marked their 27th wedding anniversary. On the occasion, Nene shared previously unseen photographs from their intimate wedding ceremony in Beverly Hills, California, in 1999.
The photographs offered a glimpse into the couple’s special day, including their ring exchange and moments with family and friends.
