Hollywood star and former professional wrestler Dwayne Johnson has expressed grief over the death of British wrestler Benjamin Satterley, popularly known by his WWE ring name Neville and later as PAC.
Calling the death of the 40-year-old wrestler “heartbreaking”, Johnson said the professional wrestling community remains a “tight-knit unit” despite the sport’s global reach.
In a video shared on social media, Johnson said, “Man, it hurts my heart to do this. I want to descend out into the universe and to the Satterley family. My love and my condolences, my support, my light, my mana, as you are enduring the loss of your loved one, Benjamin Satterley.”
Recalling his interactions with Satterley, Johnson said he had met the wrestler a few times and had shaken his hand.
“I believe he was 40, and I’m just so sorry to hear this news,” he added.
The Moana star reflected on the close bond shared by professional wrestlers, despite the sport’s international presence.
“As global as professional wrestling is, we’re still a very tight-knit unit and a tight-knit group because we all share the same DNA, and that is our love and our passion for the squared circle and to perform for audiences around the world, and we’re a little crazy, and that’s okay, but when we lose one of our own, it hurts, and when they’re young and so insanely talented, it really, it really hurts,” he said.
Johnson also spoke about the loss of friends in the wrestling industry and extended his condolences to All Elite Wrestling (AEW) president Tony Khan.
“And especially when a life is robbed, and you don’t get that opportunity to live a full life, and I’ve lost a lot of friends, as we’d know. So, to my friend Tony Khan, I’m so sorry for your loss,” he said.
In the caption accompanying his social media post, Johnson wrote, “Hurts my heart, and sending my condolences, love, light and mana to the Satterley family.”
He also highlighted the unique culture of professional wrestling and the pressures faced by performers.
“Despite pro wrestling being globally popular, it’s energy is still that of very unique subculture and breed of passionate performers who support each other because we all know the daily hardships and the nightly pressures of chasing squared circle dreams. Stay strong, Satterley family. And ‘thank you for the house’, Benjamin,” he wrote.
According to reports, on September 27, 2026, a passerby called 911 after finding Satterley slumped over and unresponsive inside a rental car in the parking lot of a restaurant in Illinois. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. He was 40.
The following day, a spokesperson for Des Plaines said there were no signs of foul play or trauma and that Satterley’s death did not appear suspicious. The official cause of death remains pending autopsy results.
