Actor Mihir Ahuja says his upcoming Netflix film Dilwali Diwali explores a familiar family dilemma: how the desire to provide a better life for loved ones can sometimes overshadow an understanding of what actually makes them happy.
Ahuja, who plays Ansh Sikka in the film, said the character’s journey is rooted in love, making the story relatable to families navigating different expectations and ideas of happiness.
“We all want to do the best for our families, but sometimes, in trying to give them more, we forget to understand what truly makes them happy,” Ahuja said, adding that the film balances humour with emotional nuances and allows audiences to see aspects of their own families in the Sikkas.
Manoj Pahwa, who portrays Ansh’s father, said the film also examines the generational differences that shape perceptions of home and a good life.
“For a parent, home is never just about the walls, the furniture, or the address. It’s about the memories you’ve built, the people you’ve shared your life with, and the little things that make a place your own,” Pahwa said.
He noted that while children may have different ideas about what constitutes a good life, the love underlying both generations’ perspectives remains the same.
Written by Ritu Mago and directed by Ritesh Menon, Dilwali Diwali also features Neelu Kohli and Aurra Bhatnagar alongside Ahuja and Pahwa.
The film is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on November 5, offering a family-focused story centred on relationships, generational perspectives and the meaning of home.
