Actor-filmmaker Rishab Shetty has joined hands with producer Bhushan Kumar and filmmaker Sandeep Singh for a two-part historical epic on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, titled The Pride of Bharat – Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
T-Series has come on board for the project, which will explore the Maratha ruler’s life, legacy and vision of Swarajya. The makers say the film will cover defining battles, landmark victories, sacrifices and lesser-known chapters of his journey, highlighting his military strategy, leadership and political vision.
To mark the collaboration, Bhushan Kumar presented Shetty with a century-old painting of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, symbolising the team’s reverence for the historical figure and its commitment to bringing his story to the screen.
Kumar said he felt a deep responsibility to take the story to audiences after hearing Singh’s narration. He described the project as more than a film, calling it a tribute to the Maratha king’s enduring legacy.
He also expressed confidence that Shetty’s screen presence and ability to portray larger-than-life figures would help bring the courage and spirit of Swarajya to audiences across generations.
The film is being planned on an expansive scale and will feature an ensemble cast, with a creative team comprising talent from India and overseas. The makers aim to present the historical account as an immersive cinematic experience for audiences across generations.
With pre-production underway, the project is scheduled to begin filming in early 2027.
Presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series Films, the film is a T-Series Films and Legend Studios production. Singh is directing the two-part saga, which is produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar. The screenplay is written by Rishi Virmani and Singh, while Shetty, Shiv Chanana and Kabiir Sadanand are co-producers.
