India pacer Prasidh Krishna has been ruled out of the five-match ODI series against New Zealand as he continues to recover from a left hamstring injury, the BCCI announced on Friday. Mohammed Siraj, meanwhile, has been added to the India A squad for the second four-day match against New Zealand A.
The BCCI said Prasidh needs additional time to build the workload required for competitive matches after sustaining the injury during an ODI against the West Indies in Guwahati.
“ The right-arm pacer, who is recovering from the hamstring injury, will need additional time to build up the workload required to be ready for matches,” the board said.
Prasidh is expected to join India A for the third and final four-day game against New Zealand A, subject to clearing the Return to Play assessment. The match is intended to provide him with competitive practice ahead of the two-Test series against New Zealand.
All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy will be available for only the opening ODI on November 4 before joining India A for the final four-day match, beginning November 6. The move is aimed at providing him match practice ahead of the Test series, which starts on November 19.
Siraj will join India A for the second four-day match against New Zealand A, beginning October 31 at Hagley Oval in Christchurch.
The five-match ODI series begins at Eden Park in Auckland on November 4. The second match will be played in Wellington on November 7, followed by the third in Hamilton on November 10. The final two ODIs are scheduled at Mount Maunganui on November 13 and 15.
