BJP national president Nitin Nabin on Saturday accused the INDIA Bloc and the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) of attempting to destabilise India, alleging that their actions were driven by political motives and support from foreign forces. He asserted that the alleged efforts would not succeed, claiming that people had seen through the Opposition’s intentions.
Nabin’s remarks came amid the CJP’s call for a demonstration at Jantar Mantar demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Addressing the media in New Delhi, the BJP chief described the two groups as “anarchic” and accused them of trying to create instability despite what he characterised as a peaceful environment in which citizens were contributing to the country’s development.
“Efforts are underway to destabilise the country, when 140 crore people are living in peace and harmony, contributing collectively to the nation’s development,” Nabin claimed, naming the INDIA Bloc led by Rahul Gandhi and the CJP, which he associated with Arvind Kejriwal’s circle.
He alleged that instead of accepting electoral defeats and learning from the people’s mandate, the Opposition was pursuing a conspiracy to disrupt national stability. He further claimed that foreign forces were backing its political agenda, though he did not provide evidence for the allegation in his remarks.
Nabin said India’s pursuit of self-reliance and its ability to maintain stability amid global uncertainty had become a source of discomfort for the Opposition. He maintained that the country’s constitutional institutions and democratic traditions were strong enough to withstand attempts to undermine them.
The BJP president also invoked the security situation under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, claiming that India had moved away from an atmosphere of fear over the past 12 years and had made sustained efforts to eliminate terrorism and Naxalism.
Targeting Rahul Gandhi, Nabin alleged that individuals with an “Urban Naxal” mindset were trying to destabilise the country. He also criticised the language used by Opposition leaders and their supporters, saying young Indians remained committed to the Constitution, democratic traditions and the country’s cultural values.
Nabin accused the Opposition of questioning democratic processes and undermining the people’s mandate by spreading what he described as falsehoods. Referring to electoral defeats suffered by Opposition parties in several states, he warned that the BJP and its supporters would respond to attempts to disrupt national stability.
He concluded by asserting that efforts to incite tension and challenge India’s constitutional framework would be dealt with firmly.
