New York, September 29, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

US President Donald Trump has denied a media report claiming that his administration offered Iran sanctions relief and access to frozen funds in exchange for concessions on its nuclear programme.

“Axios just released a story that ‘Trump’ offered Sanctions Relief and Frozen Funds to Iran. This is untrue. I offered them NOTHING! Axios’ story, like most others, is a HOAX,” Trump wrote on social media.

Trump also demanded that Axios “IMMEDIATELY” withdraw the report.

The Axios report came after Trump rejected an Iran-proposed ceasefire arrangement over the weekend, according to reports.

Iran’s proposal called for the suspension of the US blockade on Iranian ports in the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for Tehran reopening the rest of the strategic waterway and resuming negotiations on its nuclear programme.

Following Trump’s rejection of the proposal, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Sunday that the decision on whether to pursue diplomacy or continue the conflict rested with the US President.

“It is up to President Trump to choose” between diplomacy and continuing the war, Araghchi said.

He also said Tehran was prepared for renewed hostilities and would respond to any further aggression.

Araghchi said Iran would reopen the Strait of Hormuz if the US ended the conflict, lifted its blockade, released Iranian assets and allowed Tehran to resume oil sales.

“Our proposal is very clear. We are ready to open the Strait if certain things are done by the US,” Araghchi told NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday.

“We want our moneys, our assets, which are illegally frozen, to be released. We want, you know, to be able to sell our oil,” he said.

Araghchi said the measures sought by Iran could be implemented within four or five days.

“If they want — if they are serious that they want a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, now there is the possibility,” he said, adding that Iran had proposed a seven-day plan.

Under the proposal, the Strait would be reopened on the sixth day, with negotiations on a broader agreement beginning the following day, Araghchi said.

The Strait of Hormuz is a critical global energy transit route, and developments affecting its passage have implications for international oil and shipping markets.
