New Delhi, October 22, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for a new global order centred on the collective well-being of humanity, stressing the need for stronger international cooperation, reforms in multilateral institutions and greater representation for the Global South.

Addressing the NDTV World Summit, Modi reflected on the divisions exposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, saying several countries that had previously championed globalisation had prioritised their own interests when international cooperation was most needed.

He said the resulting decline in global trust had reinforced the need for a world order with humanity at its core. Modi recalled proposing a “New World Order for the Collective Well-being of Humankind” from the G20 platform in 2020.

Referring to the ancient Indian concept of Matsya Nyaya from the Arthashastra, which describes a law-of-the-jungle situation in which the bigger fish devour the smaller ones, the Prime Minister said the international system must prevent stronger nations from dominating weaker countries.

Modi cited India’s response during the pandemic as an example of its approach to global cooperation, noting that the country supplied vaccines and medicines to more than 100 nations. He said India, guided by the principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas”, seeks to remain a reliable international partner rather than pursue narrowly defined self-interest.

He also pointed to India’s leadership of the G20 and BRICS summits, where consensus-based declarations were adopted despite differences among participating nations. According to Modi, these outcomes reflected India’s role as a bridge-builder amid competing global interests.

The Prime Minister said the vision of Viksit Bharat was not limited to India’s domestic development but could also contribute to international stability and prosperity. He argued that greater Indian self-reliance would strengthen global supply chains, while the country’s economy and skilled workforce could support innovation and productivity worldwide.

Highlighting India’s economic and technological progress, Modi said the country was working towards becoming one of the world’s three largest economies and remained the fastest-growing major economy. He also cited India’s progress in green energy, artificial intelligence, startups and real-time digital payments.

Recent milestones, including the achievement of criticality by a breeder reactor, preparations for a digital census and the introduction of a hydrogen-powered train, were presented as further signs of India’s expanding capabilities.
