Jammu, October 23, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
Security forces recovered suspected improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and other explosive material from a hideout in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district during a search operation, officials said on Friday.
The recovery was made in the Mankote sector during an operation launched by the Indian Army’s Rashtriya Rifles in Kasbalari and adjoining areas following intelligence inputs from the Territorial Army.
Officials did not immediately provide details about the number of suspected devices recovered or their combined explosive weight.
The recovery comes amid a series of anti-terror operations and explosive recoveries reported across Jammu and Kashmir this month.
On October 22, police and the Army’s 52 Rashtriya Rifles arrested two alleged terror associates, also described as overground workers (OGWs), in the Darpura Nursery and Delina areas of Baramulla district. Security personnel recovered two IEDs weighing approximately 15 kg and 7.5 kg, along with a CANIK pistol, ammunition, a scooter and cash.
Earlier, on October 16, security forces recovered and destroyed an IED during an anti-terror operation in the Thungwali area of Rajouri district.
In another operation reported this month, a joint team of the Army and police recovered two IEDs weighing around 5 kg and 7 kg from the Wodhpura forest area of Handwara, along National Highway 701.
Security forces have also reported recovering ready-to-use IEDs and explosive materials from suspected hideouts in areas including Degwar and Dalan in Poonch.
Such recoveries form part of counter-terrorism efforts aimed at locating explosive devices and preventing potential attacks. Investigations and security operations continue in vulnerable areas of the Union Territory.
