Actor Kanwar Dhillon, currently seen as Sachin Deshmukh in the television show “Udne Ki Aasha,” has opened up about his lifelong connection with sports and fitness, saying his early years as an athlete played a major role in shaping his discipline and mental strength.
Recalling his school days, Kanwar said he was actively involved in sports from a young age and excelled as a sprinter.
“I’ve grown up being a sportsman all my life. Right from the primary section of my school, I was always a sprinter. I was the best athlete in my school and was also the sports captain,” he said.
He added that he participated in major sporting events and represented his school at several meets. According to Kanwar, his sporting background also influenced his mental conditioning and helped him handle pressure and challenges in his professional life.
“My personal mental strategy for bouncing back after a tough day is simply to keep going while listening to my body and mind,” he said.
The actor explained that he does not force himself to work out after particularly demanding schedules. “If I’m not able to work out or go to the gym after a very tiring schedule, I listen to my body and let it go. I don’t push myself if I don’t feel like pushing myself,” he said.
Kanwar also praised actor Siddharth Nigam for his commitment to fitness and gymnastics, calling him someone he admires for his hard work and dedication.
Among the sports he played growing up, badminton remains especially close to his heart. While he also enjoyed table tennis, Kanwar said badminton is the sport he wishes he had continued alongside his acting career.
“But badminton all the way. I’ve grown up playing badminton so much, and I was actually good at it,” he said.
Kanwar currently stars opposite Neha Harsora, who plays Sayali, in Star Plus’ popular show “Udne Ki Aasha.”
