Actor Faissal Khan, brother of Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, has received appreciation online after sharing a heartfelt message on Janmashtami and emphasising the importance of respecting all religions.
Faissal marked the birth of Lord Krishna by sharing a video on social media in which he was seen singing the devotional bhajan “Shri Krishna Govind Hare Murari”. He urged his followers to remember Lord Krishna on the auspicious occasion and extended his wishes to everyone celebrating Janmashtami.
He ended his message with “Radhe Radhe, Salaam, Jai Hind”.
His post drew praise from several social media users, with one commenter appreciating him for celebrating a Hindu festival despite being Muslim. Responding to the comment, Faissal said that respect for every religion was essential to being a true Indian and expressed pride in his identity as a Hindustani.
Faissal, who has had an unconventional journey in the Hindi film industry, made his adult acting debut with Madhosh in 1994. He gained wider recognition with Mela (2000), in which he appeared alongside Aamir Khan and Twinkle Khanna, although the film failed at the box office.
He later acted in films including Kaaboo, Border Hindustan Ka, Basti, Chand Bujh Gaya and Chinar Daastaan-E-Ishq. He also ventured into filmmaking, directing and acting in Faactory in 2021.
Faissal has previously spoken about how the failure of Mela affected his career, saying that offers for the projects he wanted gradually declined.
His relationship with his family, particularly Aamir, has also attracted attention over the years. The matter became public in 2007 after Faissal went missing for two days and alleged that he had been confined at home and that his family considered him mentally unwell. A subsequent legal dispute over his custody involved Aamir and their father Tahir Hussain.
The issue resurfaced in 2025 when Faissal made fresh public allegations. Aamir’s family said decisions concerning him had been taken after consulting multiple medical professionals and out of concern for his emotional and psychological well-being.
In 2026, Faissal apologised to Aamir and other family members for discussing their differences publicly.
