Actor Abhay Verma, who has been receiving positive response for his performance in the recently released streaming series Operation Safed Sagar, believes sacrifice represents something much larger than power.
Speaking to IANS after the release of the series, Verma said sacrifice can contribute to making the world a better place.
“I think it translates to something bigger than just power. I agree that it translates to power a little bit, in a good way,” he said.
In Operation Safed Sagar, Verma portrays Wing Commander Rajpal Singh Dhaliwal. Reflecting on the role and the qualities associated with soldiers, he said sacrifice is among the defining traits that distinguish them from ordinary citizens.
“But I also believe sacrifice translates to a better world ultimately. It means to do good to the unknown. It doesn’t only mean that you do good to the known people. But yeah, sacrifices really can change the world for the good,” the actor said.
Operation Safed Sagar has received a positive response from audiences since its release on Netflix.
The series draws from Operation Safed Sagar, the Indian Air Force’s air operation during the 1999 Kargil War, conducted in support of the Indian Army. The operation aimed to help evict regular and irregular Pakistani troops from Indian positions in the Kargil sector along the Line of Control.
It marked the first large-scale use of air power in the Jammu and Kashmir region since the 1971 India-Pakistan War.
Earlier, Verma had spoken about how learning about the Indian Air Force operation humbled him and strengthened his sense of gratitude.
Operation Safed Sagar is currently streaming on Netflix.
