A 22-year-old man from Gurugram was found dead with injury marks inside a park in Delhi’s R.K. Puram area early on Saturday, with police investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
The deceased has been identified as Vivek, a resident of Gurugram in Haryana, officials said.
According to police, Vivek had arrived at a relative’s house in R.K. Puram two days before the incident. After receiving information about the body, police personnel and forensic teams reached the spot and began examining the scene.
The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination. Police said the exact circumstances and cause of death would be established after the post-mortem report becomes available.
Investigators are also examining Vivek’s phone records and digital footprints to establish the sequence of events leading to his death.
Family members said Vivek was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside the park. They added that his body had not yet been handed over to them as the investigation was continuing.
Speaking to reporters, Vivek’s mother, Renu, expressed shock over her son’s death and said she was awaiting answers.
“I don’t know what happened to my son. I live in Gurugram. Today, I received a call from my nephew informing me about Vivek’s death. I don’t know what could have happened all of a sudden. I hope to receive justice soon,” she said.
Police said an investigation was underway and further details would emerge after the post-mortem examination and other investigative procedures.
The incident comes days after another killing in the national capital. On Wednesday, Shahid Hussain, a resident of Jamia Nagar, was stabbed to death by four men riding motorcycles in Delhi’s Kalindi Kunj area.
According to police, the killing was linked to an old rivalry dating back to 2025, when the parties involved were in Tihar Jail. Hussain, who was listed as a bad character by police, had recently been released from jail.
Police arrested four men on Friday in connection with Hussain’s killing and launched an investigation into the case.
