Bollywood actor Aamir Khan once shaved his head after a girl he loved told him that she did not love him, revealing that the emotional reaction came just before he made his Bollywood debut.
While many initially believed that the actor had shaved his head for a film, Aamir revealed the real reason during his appearance on the television show Rendezvous With Simi Garewal.
Speaking to veteran actress and host Simi Garewal, Aamir said, “A lot of people think I shaved my head for the film, when in fact I shaved my head for some other reason altogether.”
The Sitare Zameen Par actor recalled that he took the drastic step after learning that the girl he loved did not share his feelings.
“I lost a girl I loved. I mean, one day she told me that she didn’t love me, and so as a reaction, I went and shaved my head off. Quite a childish and immature thing to do, but that’s why I did it then. So when Ketan called to meet me, I went to meet him, and he said ‘where’s your hair’,” Aamir recalled.
When Simi described him as a “very intense lover”, the actor responded, “Yeah, I guess so. Sounds like it.”
Aamir also explained that he respected the woman’s decision to end the relationship, despite the emotional impact it had on him.
“If you’re having a relationship for a fair amount of time, and you know if she didn’t feel that she loved me or valued me, that was something that I completely respect, and till today I do respect that decision of hers,” he said.
Moving to his personal life, Aamir married his partner, Gauri Spratt, on July 5 this year.
The actor was previously married to Reena Dutta, with whom he has two children, son Junaid Khan and daughter Ira Khan. The couple separated in 2002.
In 2005, Aamir married filmmaker Kiran Rao. They have a son, Azad Rao Khan, together. Aamir and Kiran announced their separation in 2021.
