Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has said discussions around the recently released Indian epic ‘Ramayana’ should focus on its story and central characters rather than its visual effects, production budget or other aspects.
Speaking to the media at a special event for his upcoming war drama ‘Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace’ in Mumbai on Friday, Salman said, “I think the discussion around ‘Ramayana’ should be focused on ‘Ramayana’, and not the VFX, cost of production and other peripherals. This entire narrative of INR 4000 crores around the film, and its VFX is redundant. The discussion should be around ‘Ramayana’, Ram, Sita and Ravan”.
The film has drawn considerable attention for its visual effects, casting and music, composed by Oscar and Grammy-winning musician A. R. Rahman in collaboration with composer Hans Zimmer.
Meanwhile, Salman is preparing for the release of ‘Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace’, earlier titled ‘Galwan’. The film is based on the June 15, 2020, Galwan Valley confrontation between Indian and Chinese troops in eastern Ladakh, which took place amid a wider border standoff along the Line of Actual Control.
The violent confrontation resulted in the deaths of 20 Indian soldiers, while China also suffered casualties. It was the deadliest India-China face-off in more than four decades and led to heightened tensions, increased troop deployments and diplomatic engagement between the two countries.
Salman also denied rumours that the government had pressured him to change the film’s script.
