Bollywood superstar Salman Khan spoke out against paparazzi photographers taking inappropriate pictures of actors, particularly women, from behind and then posting them on social media with captions asking users to guess their identities.

During the ‘Weekend Ka Vaar’ episode of Bigg Boss 20, Salman criticised the practice of taking what he referred to as “hip-shots” of actresses and urged actors to speak up when they feel uncomfortable.

“And then the one shot they take from behind, which none of the heroines like? There must be a few who say it’s okay, I don’t mind it. But what about those who don’t like it?” Salman said.

He cited instances involving actress Saiee Manjrekar and actress Neha Dhupia, who he said had objected to such photography. He also recalled an incident involving his niece, saying paparazzi continued photographing her from behind while she was walking.

“My own niece, she was walking, and they kept clicking from behind. And what did the caption say? Guess who it is. Who are they to do this?” he said.

Salman urged women who are uncomfortable with such photography to stand up for themselves.

He further questioned the mentality behind such pictures and said that many women he knows, including those who have since become mothers, did not want such photographs taken earlier and do not want them now.

“What is this mentality?” Salman asked, warning photographers against continuing the practice.

The actor also said he would confront those responsible if he found out who was taking such photographs.
