Amritsar, March 19, 2025 (Yes Punjab News)

Taking strong notice of the connivance of two revenue officials in a land-grabbing case involving property owned by it in Ajnala, the Diocese of Amritsar (DoA), Church of North India (CNI), has urged Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to intervene and register a case against them.

Sharing the details, Mr Daniel B Das, Secretary, Amritsar Diocesan Trust Association (ADTA), said the property, in this case, is a piece of land measuring 7 kanals 15 marlas in Ajnala. “A self-styled office-bearer registered it in the name of Jagroop Kaur, Lovejit Kaur, and Amandeep Kaur through three separate registries,” he said.

“We had informed the Tehsildar a month ago that some people are trying to grab the property, with an appeal that no such property transaction be allowed. The Tehsildar proceeded with the transactions despite being informed. This is a criminal offence. Only the Tehsildar can tell why he acted thus,” added Mr Das.

He urged Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to intervene and order the registration of a case against the case against land mafia self-styled office bearers of the ADTA, and the revenue officer and registry clerk concerned.

Mr Das further revealed that this property was transferred by the Church of England Zenana Missionary Society (CEZMS) to the Amritsar Diocesan Trust Association (ADTA) on March 17, 1955. The ADTA is presently headed by The Most Rev Dr P K Samantaroy, Bishop Emeritus, DoA, CNI, with Mr Daniel B Das as its present secretary.
