The State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV&ACB) has arrested an assistant posted in the Haryana Transport Department, Chandigarh, for allegedly accepting a cash bribe of ₹2 lakh.
The accused, identified as Kishori Kumar, was arrested by the SV&ACB Bhiwani sub-centre team during a trap operation based on a complaint.
According to the complaint, the complainant, who is engaged in the transport business, wanted to initiate arrangements in Panipat for issuing and renewing fitness certificates for transport vehicles under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989. The process required permission from the Transport Commissioner, Haryana, Chandigarh.
The accused allegedly demanded ₹2 lakh from the complainant by threatening that permanent permission/authorisation would not be issued and in return for facilitating the permission that had already been issued by the Transport Commissioner’s office on August 27, 2026.
After receiving the complaint, the SV&ACB Hisar unit’s Bhiwani sub-centre constituted a trap team and conducted the operation in the presence of independent witnesses. Kumar was allegedly caught accepting ₹2 lakh in cash from the complainant and was arrested on the spot.
A case has been registered against the accused at the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau police station in Hisar under FIR No. 35 dated September 23, 2026, invoking Section 308(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
