Actor Gajraj Rao is set to return as Banwari Jha in the second season of ‘Dupahiya’, which promises to bring more chaos, surprises, warmth and humour to the world of Dhadakpur.
Directed by Sonam Nair, ‘Dupahiya’ Season 2 picks up from the events of the first season and takes viewers back to Dhadakpur, once known as India’s only crime-free village.
Gajraj Rao said the series remains special for its rooted setting, relatable characters and portrayal of everyday struggles that audiences across different backgrounds can connect with.
“Dupahiya has been one of my favourite projects. What makes the series special is that while the story is set in a small, rooted village, the characters, their relationships and their everyday struggles feel familiar to everyone,” Rao said.
He added that the new season will bring “more chaos, more surprises” while retaining the warmth and humour that audiences connected with in the first season. The actor also invited viewers to return to Dhadakpur when the series premieres on Prime Video on October 1.
The trailer returns to the eccentric world of the series, where Bhugol may have found fame, but his newfound recognition comes at a cost. Meanwhile, Banwari and his family find themselves caught up in further chaos.
Renuka Shahane, who reprises her role as Pushplata, said she enjoyed returning to a series that finds humour in ordinary situations while keeping its characters grounded and relatable.
Shivani Raghuvanshi, who returns as Roshni, described the second season as a special experience and said the character’s carefree, impulsive and trouble-prone personality made her particularly enjoyable to portray.
Bhuvan Arora is also back as Amavas and said the new season retains the eccentricity, humour and ups and downs of the first, while taking the characters in unexpected directions.
Sparsh Shrivastava, who plays Bhugol, said the character has several layers beneath his seemingly simple exterior and that the new season allowed him to explore his contradictions and unpredictability further.
Director Sonam Nair said the response to the first season and the fandom around it had been encouraging. She expressed confidence that the second season would receive a similar response while praising the cast and crew for their work.
‘Dupahiya’ Season 2 is created and produced by Salona Bains Joshi and Shubh Shivdasani under Bombay Film Cartel LLP. The series is created and written by Avinash Dwivedi and Chirag Garg.
The second season features Gajraj Rao, Renuka Shahane, Sparsh Shrivastava, Bhuvan Arora, Shivani Raghuvanshi and Yashpal Sharma, with Dinesh Lal Yadav (Nirahua) joining the cast.
‘Dupahiya’ Season 2 will premiere on Prime Video on October 1, 2026.
