Hollywood star Dwayne Johnson, who has been named a Disney Legend as part of the Class of 2026, reflected on the responsibility that comes with influence and power, saying it should be used to create memorable experiences and make people feel good.
Johnson shared a video of his speech after receiving the honour, expressing gratitude to Disney and thousands of fans who joined him in singing “Happy Birthday” to his daughter Simone.
Recalling a special family memory, Johnson spoke about taking Simone to Disney when she was five years old and attending a breakfast with the princesses.
“I was a new dad. I was, you know, she was five, and I was trying to figure my stuff out at that time: how I was going to be a father, how I was going to be a husband, a man, etc.,” he said.
Johnson recalled a princess asking Simone to close her eyes and make a wish. Watching his daughter make her wish left a lasting impression on him.
“I just remember that moment, looking at my daughter’s face like I’d never seen that before. Like, she was just so into making a wish,” he said, adding that he wondered what might have been going through her mind at the time.
Reflecting on his Disney Legend honour, Johnson also spoke about the role of hard work in achieving success.
“For everybody listening, especially our young folks out there, you get lucky when you work hard,” he said, while praising fellow honouree Anne Hathaway for her work ethic.
In the caption accompanying the video, Johnson emphasised the responsibility that comes with being in a position of influence.
“I think when you’re in a position of influence and power — whether it’s smaller scale or global — man we gotta use that power to create amazing experiences for people and make people feel good,” he wrote.
Thanking those who joined him in celebrating Simone’s birthday, Johnson described the moment as an unforgettable experience.
“THANK YOU from my heart to the thousands of people who joined me in singing HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my daughter Simone,” he wrote.
Johnson concluded by thanking Disney for the honour and celebrating his inclusion in the Disney Legend Class of 2026.
