Actor Akshay Kumar marked his birthday with a reflective message about appearances, morality and the lessons he says he has taken from his upcoming crime thriller ‘Haiwaan’.
Taking to Instagram, the ‘Airlift’ actor shared a video from the film along with a note questioning the difference between how things appear and what they actually are.
“On my birthday, a small thought… What looks evil may not always be evil. And what looks good may not always be good. Maybe that’s what Haiwaan taught me,” Akshay wrote.
Thanking fans for their continued support, he added that the film would show audiences a side of him they had not seen before and invited them to theatres this Friday.
The post has sparked curiosity among fans about the moral complexities of ‘Haiwaan’ and Akshay’s character in the film. Several fans also flooded the comments section with birthday wishes for the actor.
In ‘Haiwaan’, Akshay plays a dark and cold-blooded antagonist — a seemingly polished and unassuming mastermind who is also a dangerous killer. The film explores his troubled past and the circumstances that lead him towards becoming a psychopath.
The crime thriller also stars Saif Ali Khan as a visually impaired martial artist who is determined to protect a young girl. The film sets up a confrontation between the two characters.
Directed by Priyadarshan, ‘Haiwaan’ marks Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan’s reunion on screen after 18 years. The actors were last seen together in the 2008 film ‘Tashan’.
‘Haiwaan’ is scheduled to release in cinemas on September 11.
