Jemimah Rodrigues produced a stunning batting performance, smashing 107 off just 47 balls to power Mumbai to an 83-run victory over Pondicherry and secure the top position in Group D of the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy.
Mumbai and Delhi both finished the league stage with 20 points, but Mumbai claimed the group’s top spot on the strength of a superior net run rate. Delhi also qualified for the Super League after registering a six-wicket win over Jharkhand.
Rodrigues dominated the contest against Pondicherry, striking 16 fours and two sixes to take Mumbai to an imposing 213/2 after they elected to bat first. Humairaa Kaazi provided excellent support, scoring 82 from 57 deliveries, including 13 boundaries.
Pondicherry failed to mount a serious challenge and finished 83 runs short of Mumbai’s total. The comprehensive victory proved decisive in the battle for the group’s top position.
The eight qualified teams have been divided into two Super League groups. Karnataka, Baroda, Vidarbha and Delhi are in Group A, while defending champions Maharashtra, Andhra, Railways and Mumbai form Group B.
The Super League will be played in Ahmedabad from November 14 to 18, with matches scheduled at Gujarat College Cricket Ground ‘A’ and Ground ‘B’ of the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera.
Mumbai will open their campaign against Railways on November 14, followed by matches against Andhra on November 16 and Maharashtra on November 18.
Delhi will begin against Vidarbha on November 14 before facing Baroda and Karnataka on November 16 and 18, respectively.
Each team will play three Super League matches. The two group toppers will qualify for the final, scheduled at Ground ‘B’ of the Narendra Modi Stadium on November 20.
Teams will be ranked on points earned in the Super League stage. If sides are tied, the number of wins will be considered first, followed by net run rate. Only Super League results will count towards the final standings.
