Television actors Nausheen Ali Sardar and Anuj Saxena brought back memories of their popular on-screen pairing as Kusum and Abhay from the iconic daily soap Kkusum during a Diwali reunion with former cast members.
Nausheen shared glimpses of the get-together on social media, where she and Anuj were seen dancing, posing and celebrating alongside other familiar faces from the show.
Dressed in a blue saree, Nausheen was seen with Anuj, who wore a black suit paired with a white shirt. Their cheerful moments together reminded fans of the chemistry that made Kusum and Abhay one of the show’s much-loved couples.
Sharing the video, Nausheen captioned it “‘Abhay Kusum’ Laughter is Infectious”, adding hashtags including #kkusum, #nostalgia and #friendsforever.
Actress Rucha Gujarathi, who played Kali, the daughter of Kusum and Abhay in the show, was also part of the celebration. The former co-stars were seen dancing together, with the gathering eventually moving to the popular track Bole Chudiyan from the film Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham….
Kkusum, produced by Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms, premiered in May 2001 and ran until November 2005. The show followed Kusum Deshmukh, a hardworking middle-class woman whose life changes after she marries wealthy businessman Abhay Kapoor.
Nausheen played the titular character during the show’s initial years, while Anuj portrayed Abhay. Their storyline explored marriage, family relationships, class differences and betrayal.
Following a generation leap, the narrative shifted towards the next generation, including Kusum’s daughter Kumud, played by Aashka Goradia, and Kali, portrayed by Rucha Gujarathi.
The show also underwent several cast changes, with Manasi Joshi Roy and Shilpa Saklani taking on the role of Kusum at different stages. Its title track, Main Kkusum, also became popular among viewers.
