Bengaluru, November 6, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

A cab driver has been arrested in Bengaluru for allegedly murdering seven members of his wife’s family, including his wife and a seven-year-old boy, following a prolonged domestic dispute, police said.

The accused, identified as Indushekhar, was arrested by Rajajinagar police. The case came to light after Nalini, one of the victims, went missing and her mother approached the Srirampura police. During the investigation, police reportedly found inconsistencies in the accused’s statements, leading to further questioning.

The victims have been identified as his wife Sunitha, mother-in-law Roopavathi, brothers-in-law Shivakumar and Shankar, sisters-in-law Divya and Nalini, and seven-year-old nephew Puneeth.

According to preliminary police findings, Indushekhar and Sunitha had been married for around 20 years and frequently quarrelled over her close ties with her parental family. Police suspect that he planned the killings in advance.

He allegedly killed Sunitha at their residence using a grinding stone and later told her family that she had gone on a trip with friends. He is accused of subsequently inviting his brothers-in-law to his house on the pretext of drinking alcohol before killing them and other family members.

During questioning, the accused allegedly confessed to the murders and told investigators that he had disposed of the bodies at different locations around Nandi Hills in Chikkaballapur district.

The body of Puneeth was recovered after a search operation lasting nearly four hours. Police are continuing efforts to locate the remaining bodies.

Investigators reportedly found evidence at the accused’s residence and suspect that he cleaned bloodstains and washed the grinding stone after the killings. The car allegedly used to transport the bodies has also been seized.

West Division Joint Commissioner Vamsi Krishna and North Division DCP Nemagowda are supervising the investigation. A special team of three Assistant Commissioners of Police has been formed to trace the remaining bodies and collect evidence.

Police are also examining other aspects of the case, including a reported dispute between the accused and the owner of his rented accommodation near Bhashyam Circle, where he had lived for around eight years. Indushekhar was reportedly running a newspaper titled Thana Varadi.

Further investigation is underway.
