Actor Rajpal Yadav has revealed his unusual formula for box-office success, joking that films in which his characters get beaten up often turn out to be hits.
The actor made the amusing admission during his appearance on Family Full House with Rohit Sharma, where the host pointed out a recurring feature of several of his popular comedy films — Rajpal’s characters frequently finding themselves at the receiving end of physical comedy.
Rohit cited films such as Bhaagam Bhaag, Khatta Meetha and Bhool Bhulaiyaa before asking whether getting thrashed on screen had become the actor’s lucky charm.
Agreeing with the observation, Rajpal responded with his trademark humour: “Yes, the films in which I get beaten up become hits.”
His witty reply drew laughter and applause from the audience, turning the exchange into a light-hearted moment on the show.
Rajpal has built a reputation for comic timing and memorable supporting performances, often playing characters caught in chaotic situations involving slapstick humour.
In Bhaagam Bhaag (2006), he played Gullu alongside Akshay Kumar and Govinda, while his portrayal of Chhote Pandit in Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007) became one of his widely recognised comic performances.
He was also part of the comedy chaos in Khatta Meetha (2010), starring Akshay Kumar.
His other popular comedy films include Hungama, Waqt: The Race Against Time, Chup Chup Ke, Dhol, Partner, De Dana Dan and Phir Hera Pheri.
The actor’s latest remark offers a humorous explanation for a familiar feature of his screen persona, which has entertained audiences across several Bollywood comedy hits.
