Chandigarh, November 4, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi will address the party’s ‘Insaaf Rally’ at Fagguwala village in Punjab’s Sangrur district on Wednesday, with the state unit looking to use the event to intensify its preparations for the 2027 Assembly elections.
Punjab Congress President S. Pargat Singh described the rally as an important platform to raise issues concerning the rights, future and justice of the people of Punjab. He said Rahul Gandhi’s visit would provide fresh momentum to the party’s campaign, particularly in the politically significant Malwa region.
Singh said the rally would also send a message to party leaders and workers to strengthen the organisation and prepare for the electoral challenge ahead. He added that the Congress would focus on grassroots engagement and consistently highlight public concerns.
The party has been making preparations for the event, with AICC general secretary Sachin Pilot regularly visiting the venue in Sangrur along with other leaders to review arrangements.
In an earlier post on X, the Punjab Congress had urged people to attend the rally at Fagguwala village at 10 a.m., describing Rahul Gandhi’s visit as a source of hope for Punjab.
The Congress is expected to use the occasion to target the AAP-led Punjab government over its performance and raise issues it believes require attention.
Singh said the Malwa belt holds considerable importance in Punjab politics, with its Assembly constituencies playing a significant role in determining electoral outcomes. Launching the party’s campaign from Sangrur, he added, would be an important part of its strategy for the 2027 polls.
He said mobilising workers, strengthening the party organisation and taking public concerns to the people would remain key priorities in the run-up to the elections.
